The San Francisco Ethics Commission on Aug. 12 voted 3–2 to send amended rules on behested ("be‑hest") payments to the Board of Supervisors, narrowing the "attempt to influence" prong to contract‑related contexts, adding a $1,000 annual exception for minimal payments and authorizing a limited grace period for an existing SFPUC Social Impact Partnership program.

School committee raises after‑school teacher pay for 21st Century program

On Aug. 11 the Blackstone‑Millville School Committee unanimously approved increasing the certified teacher hourly rate for the 21st Century Learning Center at the JFK‑AFM complex from $35 to $45 for 2022–23. The superintendent said the increase is fully covered by the program's grant.
