Board approves multiple hires and adopts 2026–27 Parent/Student Handbook

The Reed-Custer Community Unit School District 255U Board of Education approved Action Items A–C at its July 15 meeting, including multiple personnel hires, a semi-annual executive session minutes review and adoption of the 2026–27 Parent/Student Handbook. The motion was made by Michael Grace and seconded by Melissa Micklos; the roll-call vote recorded 5 yeas, 0 nays, 1 absent prior to the appointment of a new board member.

Action A listed new hires and assignments for the coming school year: Rebecca Krabbe (Early Learning Center assistant substitute, $21.00/hour); Jayden Feil (Early Learning Center teacher, $24.50/hour, pending background check); Mayleen Gaytan (Early Learning Center teacher, $24.50/hour, pending background check); David Heyn (permanent substitute bus driver); William De Larme (substitute bus aide, effective August 12, 2026); Mason Mitchell (elementary teacher assistant, $21.75/hour); and Gavin Johnston (Reed-Custer High School assistant football coach, volunteer, pending background check). Action B approved the semi-annual review of executive session minutes for January through June 2026. Action C approved the 2026–27 Parent/Student Handbook with minor edits to be made prior to posting to reflect the seating of the new board member.

All three actions were recorded as carried by roll-call vote. The minutes do not record individual dissenting votes for these items.
