Neighbors near the new community center told the commission that multipurpose-field lighting and after-hours activity are disrupting nearby homes. Multiple residents said light glare penetrated their apartments even with impact windows, and the vice mayor and other commissioners reported multiple noise complaints for amplified music during a late-night gathering at the fields.
The commission directed staff to pursue technical assistance from the lighting manufacturer's photometric experts and to attempt immediate operational solutions (re-aiming fixtures while observing at night). Staff reported police had responded to shut down amplified music the evening of the meeting, but the soccer game continued until the 11 p.m. cutoff. The village manager and public-works staff said they will coordinate visits with the installer and the community center operator to document remaining issues and identify mitigations (shielding, aim adjustments, operational limits).
Commissioners said they expect stricter enforcement if cooperative approaches fail and asked legal and management to convene an on-site meeting with the operator to clarify operational rules, permits, rental policies and a list of outstanding punch-list items to be completed before full promotion of the facility to the public.
