The Tehama County Board of Supervisors approved a final change order Sept. 15 for the county bus maintenance and administrative facility rehabilitation project. Public Works/Transportation staff said temporary commercial generators and related electrical work were required during the switchgear installation and electrical service transition, producing a change order in the amount of $39,576.80.
Public Works explained the final change order pushes the project slightly beyond the originally budgeted change‑order allowance because of a prolonged material delay and coordination with utilities. Project leads said the generators, rentals and labor were necessary to keep the facility operational during the work — necessary for transit dispatch and flood control operations located in the same building — and that the project is otherwise complete and will be closed with a notice of completion.
The board asked about contract markup and whether some costs could have been anticipated; staff said negotiations had reduced markup and that the cost will be covered by local transportation funds and reserves and replenished from future transfers as appropriate. The motion to approve the final change order carried on a roll call vote.
