The committee reviewed a staff survey of businesses on Range Street (between 1st Street and Fowler Street) about proposed no‑parking signs. "And, really, except with a couple of exceptions, no 1 was in favor of of the parking restrictions," a Transportation staff member reported, summarizing survey responses and explaining the city's default practice is not to restrict parking in front of a property unless the property owner requests it.
Staff said the only requested restrictions were a few short pieces marked on the map in red; for any restriction under 100 feet the city manager can authorize signage administratively without returning the item to council. "If it's less than a 100 feet, the city manager can just do that without having to take it to council," the presenter said. Staff added they will install those short signs administratively and will bring additional proposed segments for other streets (Marquis, Woodside, industrial areas) to council in the coming weeks.
