Peter Orander, presenting the regional center plan, described the county split into six geographic regions and listed which schools will host which center programs. "These are the programs that students will be able to apply to based on the region in which they reside," he said, explaining that regions are now named (southern, eastern, central south, central, central north, northern) to make geography clearer for families.
Orander gave examples: the southern region includes BCC and other schools; Albert Einstein will host arts and medical‑science center tracks (with some programs criteria‑based and others interest‑based); Woodward will be a new school hosting art centers, MC2 and a machine‑learning/data‑science program. The presentation stressed that students may only apply to programs in their region and that MCPS will post detailed program pages for exact course sequences and seat counts.
