Ayanna Elzey told committee members she is a Milwaukee native, a 2020 graduate of Xavier University of Louisiana and a Howard University School of Law graduate who previously worked at several Housing Authority sites and is currently an attorney at MWH Law Group. She said she wants to help the board "implement systems, bylaws, rules that can create stability such that no matter who joins the commission… they can pick up the mantle and continue the work".
Committee members asked about past challenges at the Housing Authority and Elzey said she appreciates recent efforts by the current board to stabilize operations. After brief remarks of support from committee members, including praise for bringing a legal perspective, Alderman Stanford moved to recommend confirmation; with no objections the committee congratulated Elzey and wished her luck.
