City staff reported that Romer Park will receive a delivery of trees and plantings around the dog-park area next week and that sidewalk replacement work is ongoing and being done in-house. The staff member said the city will roll out a resident survey in the coming weeks and include recreation planning items in the newsletter so residents can participate in decisions.
On youth recreation, staff said local gym-practice space for basketball now costs about $55 per hour for Wednesdays, higher than earlier rates, and the city is pursuing alternative practice space through South Weber and other partners. Staff said the city will continue to seek affordable options so programs remain accessible.
The council also reviewed an upcoming emergency-preparedness fair on Sept. 17 and a NIMS 402 elected-officials training session on Sept. 29; staff asked members to RSVP so the city can provide dinner and coordinate participation.
