Councilors reviewed a set of resolutions including a multi-municipality grant application and event approvals.
Staff said the commission will authorize filing an application with the U.S. Department of Justice for the FY2026 Local Justice Assistance Grant program as part of a shared-services agreement with neighboring municipalities. "The total award for all the municipalities was about $85,000. Millville is eligible for $15,455 that should be used for criminal justice and public safety purposes," staff said.
Commissioners also approved a resolution authorizing a public fireworks display for the Festival of Fear on Oct. 17 at 9 p.m. at the Tim Shannon Sports Complex; staff said the vendor has been paid and the resolution is a required insurance/approval step.
In addition the commission approved a resolution rescinding an earlier resolution and adopting a second amendment to a professional services contract with Taylor Wiseman and Taylor. Staff said the amendment reduces the contract ceiling by $101,319 while preserving mitigation-compliance work and coordinating with the New Jersey DEP; estimated reimbursements of about $60,000–$70,000 were noted.
