Cali County approves fiscal year 2027 budget and rural fire district resolutions

The Cali County Commission opened and closed several statutorily required public hearings on proposed FY2027 budgets for the county and for Rural Fire Districts 5 and 7, noting that the districts' contracts with the cities of Arc City and Winfield underlie revenue changes. The commission approved resolution 2026-08 for Rural Fire District No. 5 and later approved the FY2027 budgets for the district(s) and the county by voice vote.

County staff told the board that a publication oversight on the county budget notice had been corrected with the newspaper and that the hearings were being repeated to meet statutory requirements. Commissioners said the county recently cut its budget by $1,300,000 and cautioned about committing funds to litigation or large interventions related to other agenda matters.
