Kaylee, the city’s summer marketing intern, presented a Parks & Recreation social‑media and promotions plan aimed at increasing awareness and facility reservations across Highland Village parks.
She said the department will prioritize short video “reels” and optimize profile bios and pinned posts to convert nonfollowers into users, and recommended a digital brochure, clearer campground maps and QR codes at larger parks to prompt visitor reviews and bookings. “This is my marketing plan that I put together,” Kaylee said, and she emphasized that “Our normal still photos do well as well. But our reels win by a landslide.”
The presentation included practical steps staff had already taken: claiming 18 Google listings, establishing nine Yelp pages and correcting erroneous park hours or closures. Council members pressed for an operational timeline and responsibility for replying to reviews; Kaylee said staff in the marketing area (Jenny or Lori) would monitor the inbox and typically respond within a day.
Council and staff supported next steps and assigned a task list to implement the plan, including follow‑up on the three parks that could not be verified for Google claims. Council thanked Kaylee for the work and said the effort would be incorporated into the city manager’s report and future outreach.
