Staff reported that contractor crews installed curbing and began rough grading at the Conley playground but struck a buried water valve that required water-department parts and repair. The facilities presenter said the contractor aimed to finish before school started but missed that mark and that paving is now expected mid next week; he added, "we're hoping that it was gonna be this week that we would be wrapped up and ready for pavement. It looks like it's gonna be more mid mid next week for pavement." The presenter noted fencing work remains; once one remaining fence section and some gravel are installed, the older-student side could be opened for supervised use.
Committee members emphasized safety with students on site during construction and asked for temporary fencing or wrapped barriers until permanent work is complete. One member called the site a construction zone and urged stronger protections: "So we gotta make it safer... I would wrap this whole area with fencing or whatever we need to do." Staff agreed to pursue temporary fencing and to seek a contractor schedule update.
