Commissioner McLeod moved Resolution 101, a DPW FY2026 accrual budget amendment. Darwin Bass, director of the Department of Public Works, updated the board on PFAS pretreatment construction at three county landfill sites, saying work is proceeding at North Kent, Kentwood and South Kent concurrently and the North Kent package is being paced quicker because of a stormwater permit compliance requirement. "We're actually building out PFAS pretreatment at North Kent Landfill, at the Kentwood Landfill, and then at the South Kent Landfill," Bass said, and added that contractors are on site, building packages were delivered and the overall package is expected to be complete within about a year.
Bass estimated the project is approximately 15% complete and said capital equipment has been ordered and contractors have boots on the ground. The board adopted the resolution by roll-call vote.
