McPherson County's Board approved purchases for the 2026 fall weed control program and authorized advertising for a new weed control specialist at the Sept. 14 meeting.
Noxious Weeds Director Mike (speaker 9) requested two purchase orders: Nutrino Solutions for $10,719.82 and Van Dy Supply for $12,142.44, selecting smaller packaging and adding a product called High Noon (aminopyralid) to address sunflower, poison hemlock and other broadleaf species. He said the name‑brand and generics' pricing had shifted and described field trials on county and personal sites; he told the board he had used High Noon and found it effective.
Mike also asked the board to authorize advertising for a weed control specialist who would assist spray operations and be cross‑trained in office duties; the board approved posting the job and the job description. Commissioners discussed seasonal workload shifts and potential cross‑coverage with maintenance staff.
The purchases and the personnel advertisement were approved by motion and unanimous voice votes.
