Trustees pressed staff for concrete enrollment data to determine where AP sections have low enrollment and whether virtual or alternating "A/B" schedules could expand access for students in small high schools. Dr. Miller urged the board to look at sections with only six or seven students and consider consolidating offerings or leveraging technology so a single certified instructor can serve students across multiple sites.
Student member Miss Nanduri and other trustees described disparities between schools: "We have pretty much every AP class there is to offer" at some schools while others have far fewer options. Staff said the AP curriculum is available as a free College Board resource but that staffing and supervision requirements, not curriculum licensing, drive much of the cost. Board members asked staff to provide counts of AP sections, enrollment and the number of students taking dual-enrollment courses so trustees can weigh programmatic trade-offs.
