Brad Mills and Christy Coffey, co‑chairs of the We Are Evergreen committee, presented a detailed update on community engagement, the data gathered from surveys and focus groups, and a phased approach to redesigning Evergreen Park. They emphasized that conceptual alignment from council would allow the committee to proceed with private fundraising and more detailed design work.
"Put simply, we're developing a community informed vision for Evergreen and emphasis on community informed," Mills said, summarizing the committee's approach. The committee described a phasing plan that would prioritize the Northeast quadrant playground as Phase 1, move to other park areas in later phases, and reserve the pool for a later phase to minimize construction disruption and fund the work via a mix of private fundraising and grant opportunities.
Council members praised the outreach and pressed for concrete timelines and implementation details; Councilman Gordon urged the council and committee to align on phase dates and funding strategies so the conceptual plans can move to final design and construction scheduling.
