The Garfield County Commission voted to revoke the existing business license for Bridal Lodging/Quality Inn Bryce Canyon after receiving county counsel's recommendation and citing ongoing litigation.
A representative for Bridal Lodging asked the commission to "modify the suspension to allow the lobby functions in the transit lobby, Buildings 1, 2 and 3, while our contractors are continuing to work" and presented written confirmations from the building department, the fire marshal and DEQ for partial occupancy. The representative said the closure since June 16 had created a hardship on operations and finances. (Business representative, S9)
Commissioners said counsel's recommendation limited the board's options today and moved to revoke the blanket license that covered the whole project. S3 moved to revoke the existing license; S2 seconded the motion and the board voted in favor. Chair (S1) said the commission would "advertise for a reconsideration of limited use license" and set a public reconsideration meeting for 11:00 a.m. the next day. "It's on the public notice website already," the chair said.
The commission did not grant partial reopening at this meeting. The board directed staff to advertise the limited-use hearing and invited the applicant to return for the reconsideration. The applicant said they would provide documentation and requested a Zoom option for the follow-up hearing.
