Several residents used the allotted public‑comment time to recommend candidates for the open Place 3 council seat.
Donnie Winship described his long acquaintance with Jeff Davis and praised Davis’s "hard work, compassion for others, and integrity," urging council to remember those qualities as they consider finalists. "When someone needed his attention, he just didn't find someone to do it. He did it himself," Winship said, citing repeated personal observation of Davis's service.
John Petty and his wife, Holly Petty, spoke in support of Daniel Burdett and asked the council to consider him among finalists, noting Burdett's volunteer track record and consistent engagement in city events. Neil Stampede also urged consideration of Jeff Davis, citing Davis's record of volunteer service including work with the Richardson Real Hero program.
Calvin Smellidge recommended Jordan Norick (transcript spelling variants) based on Norick's multi‑year service as PACS committee chair and Cub Scout leadership. Each public speaker asked the council to weigh community service and demonstrated commitment when evaluating applicants for the vacancy.
