Brandon, a county staff member providing announcements, told the commission the county remains under an indefinite burn ban for Sedgwick County Fire District 1 and its member and nearby cities.
"We're still under an indefinite burn ban for Sedgwick County Fire District 1, its member cities, as well as additional cities within the county of Valley Center, Colwich, Mount Hope, Cheney, Clearwater, and Mulvane," Brandon said.
Brandon also said the treasurer will open a satellite tag office at Lubbers Chevrolet Cheney, which "will be open 9 to 5 Tuesdays and Thursdays." He said the Sedgwick County Zoo will appear at a future meeting to highlight Zubilee, and that the election office is actively recruiting workers ahead of the Nov. 4 general election, noting the office was short roughly 100 workers during the primary.
The announcements closed with a reminder that county offices will be closed for Labor Day and that emergency services remain available by calling or texting 911.
The commission proceeded with consent and new-business items after the announcements; an executive session was scheduled for after the meeting.
