Union County highway staff told commissioners that the county’s estimated maintenance for Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) work exceeded earlier estimates and that state rules require a revised resolution when spending surpasses the original figure. The staff said the board had budgeted roughly $480,000 but actual spending totaled $492,451 and an amended resolution is necessary to align the paperwork submitted to the Illinois Department of Transportation.
"Our resolution that we passed was a 480,000, and what we spent was 492,000. So we had to redo the resolution to be $492,451 to encompass the amount that was done," a county staff member said. Commissioners approved the amended resolution by roll call during the meeting.
No new projects were authorized by the amendment itself; the change updates the county’s paperwork so the county’s MFT accounting matches expenditures and IDOT requirements.
