Jennifer Burke took the oath of office and was sworn in as a member of the Garfield Heights Board of Education at a special meeting on Sept. 11, 2026. Cuyahoga County Executive Chris Ronain administered the oath; Burke said, "I'm honored."
Ronain introduced Burke and reflected on the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, noting local wreath-laying at the Soldiers' Monument on Public Square and thanking board members for their work in education. He led the board oath, prompting Burke to repeat pledges to "support the constitution of The United States and the constitution of the state of Ohio" and to "faithfully and impartially discharge my duties as a member of the board of education of the Garfield Heights School District, Cuyahoga County, Ohio."
Burke thanked those involved in the selection process, specifically naming "Judge Russo" and saying she looked forward to "making a difference" alongside a "very good superintendent" and the board. Ronain praised Burke's community work addressing gun violence and the use of music as therapy, and noted her background in real estate. The brief ceremony ended with congratulations, a photo opportunity and the board resuming its procedural business.
