The commission's executive director reported that two finalists for the agency's executive-director position had submitted legal writing samples and would make in-person presentations in executive session, followed by deliberation and a public vote if needed. The director said the presentations and question-and-answer sessions were scheduled for later the same day and that, after executive session deliberations, members would return to open session to cast votes.
On agency finances, the executive director said the commission is "well sit situated financially for our agency's needs," reporting a current 2025–27 biennium budget of $5,798,000 and an anticipated 2027–29 biennium request of about $5,743,000. The director cautioned that nondiscretionary statewide costs affect agencies across the state budget, but given the commission's relatively small size and constitutional mandate the agency expects limited impact from broader shortfalls. The director also noted membership changes and upcoming training and outreach plans, including presentations to new state justices and ProTAM training opportunities.
