The Township of Union hosted its 25th‑anniversary September 11 remembrance ceremony on Sept. 11, 2026, bringing together local officials, first responders and residents to honor victims and the emergency personnel who answered the call. The event, hosted by the Union Fire Department and Union Police Department, included the presentation and lowering of the colors, the national anthem, five tributes to individual heroes, a bell sequence marking the attack timeline and wreath placements.
Mayor Patricia Guerra Frazier, who attended with other local leaders, framed the event as both sorrowful and grateful, calling first responders “everyday superheroes.” Mayor Frazier said, “May we never forget, may we always remember, and may we continue to stand together in unity, in strength, and in hope.” The ceremony closed with a benediction and an invitation for refreshments.
Why it mattered: the ceremony combined personal stories of sacrifice with public recognition of ongoing impacts on responders and families. Organizers also used the remembrance to underline continuing obligations to survivors and recovery workers and to pass the memory to younger generations.
