Dr. O'Neil reviewed his recommended goals for the 2026 27 year and asked the committee for feedback and a vote. His four goals are: strengthen leadership accountability and follow-through with principals (monthly meetings and walk-throughs); improve foundational literacy and mathematics through targeted, high-quality instruction; lead a transparent, data-driven process to finalize school start times and related transportation models with a recommendation by December; and implement the new mission, vision and the Lancer Way to create coherence across the district.
"So, I have 4 goals for this current year," Dr. O'Neil said, outlining monthly principal meetings, instructional priorities, a timeline to finalize start times, and the Lancer Way rollout. Committee members discussed evaluation timing and suggested mid-year updates and measurable indicators; one member noted the goals appear measurable and aligned with school priorities.
The committee then moved and seconded a motion to approve the superintendent's goals as presented. The motion carried with committee members answering "Aye." The administration said it will provide periodic updates and a midyear check-in prior to the formal evaluation cycle described by the superintendent.
