The committee reviewed the Wisconsin Counties Association proposed resolutions for the 2026 annual meeting. Members focused discussion on several numbered proposals, including one that would limit county steering‑committee voting to one vote per county (a Polk County request), language on corporate ownership limits for housing purchases, opioid settlement spending, and two items on cybersecurity information‑sharing.
One supervisor expressed particular concern with a resolution about vaccination for poultry and with broad information‑sharing items, while another member strongly supported items 7 and 8 as a way for local governments to participate in cybersecurity information‑sharing networks. The committee agreed to gather more information at the upcoming WCA conference and to bring back both sides of the discussion before taking additional action.
"7 and 8 are basically local governments working in uniform and sort of tag‑teaming each other in fighting cybersecurity that impacts local governments," a committee member said in support of those resolutions. Members also discussed the interplay between representation and charges for counties of different sizes and decided to lay over some items for further review at the next meeting.
