The Hardee County Planning & Zoning Board approved a site development and construction plan to build a 5,200‑square‑foot Circle K convenience store with fuel pumps on a 2.97‑acre parcel at the southwest corner of State Road 62 and US Highway 17.
Joshua Cheney, Hardee County Community Development staff, presented the application and noted staff found the plan compliant with the Hardee County Unified Land Development Code. Cheney reported parking, setbacks and landscape plans meet code and told the board the Traffic Impact Analysis estimates the project would generate "712 new daily external trips and 67 new AM peak hour trips." After questions from board members about access and wetlands, an applicant representative said they are coordinating permits with SWFWMD and FDOT and confirmed Circle K will fund on‑site construction and related improvements. A board member moved to approve the plan with staff’s recommended conditions; the motion passed by voice vote.
Staff read conditions into the record, including a 12‑month site plan expiration (extendable by the community development director), landscaping and sign height limits, and compliance with ULDC section 4.02‑0.41 for fueling operations. The board’s approval is subject to those conditions and any required state permitting processes.
