The DeKalb County Operations Committee approved a change order on an on-call painting and pressure‑washing contract allowing the county to spend additional funds—up to $1,850,000 total—on painting and pressure‑washing work used by Facilities Management, Recreation, Parks & Cultural Affairs, Fire Rescue and Watershed.
Facilities staff told commissioners the work covered by change order 261149 includes painting of buildings and pressure washing of recreation centers, concessions, restrooms, water treatment plants and storage tanks. The presenter said the change order extends the contract through June 30, 2028 to accommodate planned work across multiple departments.
Commissioners pressed staff on scope and scheduling for specific assets, including a Dunwoody water tower and vacant county buildings. Facilities staff said the watershed request includes funds to address storage tanks and treatment facilities and that departments typically request work as projects arise. “They’re asking for 950,000 to do the, 22 storage tanks and also some of their water treatment facilities,” a staff presenter said.
Robert Patrick moved to approve the item and Ladina Bolton seconded; the committee approved the change order by voice vote. The committee chair said staff will follow up with commissioners on whether additional contracts or change orders are needed to cover beautification and other public infrastructure pressure‑washing needs.
