Dawn, the facility presenter, told the LaSalle County Nursing Home committee the facility recorded $1,430,000 in revenue in August, ‘‘the majority of that being from our tax levy receipts,’’ with expenses of $649,000 for the month.
She said year-to-date revenue was $6,680,000 against expenses of $5,990,000, producing a positive net margin and an $865,000 favorable variance from budget year to date. Dawn said cash on hand rose to $3,400,000 from $2.6 million at the start of the month and that current run rates and expected tax-levy contributions support a higher year-end revenue projection.
The presentation framed changes for the coming budget: Dawn said she planned conservatively on an average census of 65 residents for budgeting, with assumptions of three Medicare beds in the projection (noting there is potential for more). She told the committee the facility expects year-end revenue of approximately $9,260,000 versus a budgeted $7,960,000 and expected expenses near $8,200,000 versus a budgeted $8,930,000, creating an estimated $1 million improvement in cash position by fiscal year end.
The committee did not take a formal budget vote at the meeting; Dawn said she will return with detailed budget items as the board prepares for formal budget consideration later this year.
