The Napa Valley Unified School District board recognized students of the month from American Canyon High School and Napa High School during its regular meeting.
Ava Aquino (American Canyon High), who shared a pre-recorded message, described her AVID research on academic stress and mental health and her nonprofit work distributing books in the Philippines. "I'm incredibly honored to be selected as the NVUSD board student of the month," she said. Lorenzo Cerventi, present at the meeting, spoke about joining drama after years in sports and said the arts helped him find belonging; he plans to major in theater and film.
At Napa High, Alina Flores and Kendra May were introduced by the principal and each described academic achievements and extracurricular leadership. Trustees paused the agenda to photograph the students and thanked staff who nominated them.
