The Real Estate Committee on Friday approved a license for a 7‑inch roof/overhang encroachment into Oak Street at 10 Oak. The applicant, introduced by the chair as Mr. Grosso, said the building is about 100 years old and explained the encroachment is limited to the roof overhang.
"I need your approval for a variance I'm looking for, on the property at 10 Oak," the applicant told the committee. The chair confirmed the most recent survey, dated "'24, September," shows a 0.6‑foot (7‑inch) encroachment and explained the city issues a license for a term of years rather than a permanent easement so the public retains flexibility.
Committee members asked whether the encroachment presented any public‑safety or infrastructure concerns; none were raised. Mike moved to approve the license and Dave seconded. The chair called the vote; the committee recorded four votes in favor and no opposition.
After the vote the chair told the applicant, "I will draft up a license agreement based upon the information you've given me. Jenny will circulate it to you and you take a look at it, see if it's what you want." The committee indicated a typical license term has been about 10 years but confirmed the term would be included in the drafted agreement.
