The Calvert County Board of Education approved multiple procurement actions that district staff said preserve operations and improve infrastructure. Funding sources included FY27 capital funds and emergency connectivity money: Mid Atlantic Asphalt, Inc. will receive $107,667 to repair Huntingtown High School's lower tennis courts; AV3 Inc. will perform an audiovisual modernization of the boardroom for $28,381; and ePlus Technology, Inc. was approved for a three-year adaptive cybersecurity awareness platform at a total of $114,948 (with annual payments of $38,316 beginning FY28 after a no-cost transition).
Sheldon Taylor, supervisor of finance and procurement, and project leads described operational benefits: surface repair and fencing relocation at Huntingtown, improved hybrid-meeting capabilities in the boardroom, and enhanced phishing simulations and mitigation tools for staff training. The board also approved a slate of school-bus contractor agreements (12-, 2- and 1-year terms) intended to maintain route continuity; director Kevin Hook explained the 12-year contractor terms align with the state's 12-year maximum bus lifecycle. All contract votes reported were unanimous.
