A Sea Pines Foundation representative presented phase‑two trail work in the Forest Preserve and requested ATAX funds to extend the existing improved surface and complete a loop usable by bicyclists and leisure trail users.
The representative explained earlier signage grants and initial trail work and said phase two would add about 4,700 linear feet of asphalt millings, directional signage and a bike rack to complete a roughly 1.6‑mile loop that connects Fish Island and the preserve’s main entrance. “The Sea Pines Forest Preserve was established in 1970,” the presenter said, noting the preserve’s archaeological shell ring and TripAdvisor rankings as evidence of visitor interest.
Committee members asked about gate access and whether non‑Sea Pines residents pay entrance fees; the presenter explained current access arrangements and said the foundation seeks to improve visitor amenities and donation stations to help sustain operations.
