The Marion County Election Office told the board on Sept. 4 that Rocky Ripple Town Hall will not be available for the fall election and that staff have identified four nearby locations to serve voters who would have used that site.
"There are 4 locations within 1.5 miles of Rocky Ripple," Director Patrick Becker said, naming Hinkle Field House, Crooked Creek Baptist, St. Paul's Episcopal and St. Thomas Aquinas as planned alternatives. Becker said adding those alternatives and other adjustments brings the county's planned vote centers for the fall to 183.
Becker said the change should help absorb voters who would have gone to Rocky Ripple and that the office plans to present the full vote-center plan to the board early next week for a formal vote. He also noted that Lucas Oil Stadium and First Friends are scheduled to be sites for the fall.
