Chair Mavis Bates thanked the county board for approving repaving at the county recycling center and described a plan to seek capital appropriations from federal representatives to upgrade the site into an enclosed structure with a garage for cardboard to avoid water damage. "I can't wait to see how beautiful it's gonna be," Bates said, describing plans for asphalt, striping and signage, and plantings tied to a new landscaping berm that will screen the site.
Members discussed operational details, including monitoring for illegal dumping, adding cameras for enforcement, collecting ZIP-code information from users to analyze usage patterns, and the possibility of accepting Styrofoam. Staff noted they will repave, strip topsoil where needed, build a berm, remove a chain-link fence and add plantings as part of the repaving work.
