City Manager Chambers told the council the city has hired a new finance director who will start Oct. 5. Chambers provided multiple departmental updates: the Kolwell waterline project is ahead of schedule with initial samples for five residences on the new line; the wastewater treatment plant expansion is progressing toward on‑site data collection and needs assessment coordinated with Schneider Electric; and airport fuel sales exceeded 2,600 gallons in the month with several medevac refuels.
Chambers also noted library activity (62 new library cards, nearly 2,000 circulations) and community events hosted at the Civic Center and Longhorn Museum. He recognized police and fire department accomplishments: the Pleasanton Police Department responded to 839 calls for service in August, and the fire department reported over 170 incidents with several mutual‑aid responses; two firefighters completed State Fire Commission certifications this month.
