The Riverhead Zoning Board of Appeals handled several procedural and substantive items on Sept. 10, 2026. Key outcomes:
• Appeal 2026-014 (Eugene Cook) — withdrawal granted with prejudice; one-year bar on reapplication.
• Appeal 2026-015 (Carlos Centeno) — adjourned to Oct. 8, 2026 pending updated denial letter and additional relief information (setbacks and lot-coverage relief noted).
• Appeal 2026-017 (John McCabe) — variance approved for an enclosed porch on a seasonal cottage in the bluff area with conditions requiring hand-digging of pilings where feasible, minimizing pilings or submission of an engineering affidavit if reduction infeasible, and replacing any disturbed vegetation.
• Appeal 2026-016 (Bruce Brenner) — interpretation hearing continued to Oct. 21, 2026; board requested leases, interior photos, surveys, affidavits and parking evidence.
The board approved the minutes of Aug. 13, 2026, and set the next meeting for Sept. 24, 2026. Several items were continued to future sessions to allow applicants to submit additional documentation requested by the board.
