Museum leadership updated trustees on exhibit installation plans and personnel changes. David Rubenstein (speaker 1) said contractors will begin onsite work next week and that exhibit installation aims for a late-spring completion with a target opening around June 1. "We believe we're shooting for June 1 opening, thereabouts," he said.
Rubenstein described how mounts and artifact supports require hands-on work with artifacts and explained the tradeoff that kept in-state conservation for exhibits rather than shipping collections out of state. The board also discussed staffing changes: a Curator of Interpretation post was filled and the halftime registrar position became vacant Sept. 2; interviews are scheduled.
The museum said debut objects and a rotating collection approach will shape the initial gallery, and staff emphasized outreach and advisory sessions that helped shape exhibit text and themes.
