Historical society previews 2027 conference plans and research programming

Society staff invited trustees to upcoming monthly history talks and provided details on planning for the 2027 annual conference, to be jointly hosted with the Center for Western Studies on April 22–23 with a teacher continuing-education day on April 21. Staff said the conference theme will include regional 'Dakota tales' and anticipates some sessions at Augustana University and luncheons at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church.

"We're going for 200," staff said when asked about attendance targets. Staff asked trustees for suggestions for field trips and social events and said hotel bids are forthcoming; they also announced a call for papers to be circulated soon. Organizers said they expect three concurrent session tracks drawing regional scholars, teachers and community presenters.
