Paula Frie told the commission she found a prospective speaker for the Nov. 9 Veterans Day program: James Demorro, who the minutes say recently returned from Iraq and worked for a government agency; Demorro has expressed interest in speaking at the senior center event.
Commission member Patricia Morianos said the group will run a collection for Newington's holiday wish list from Nov. 1 through Nov. 30. Members discussed holding the senior center's event on the same day as the Bolton Center School program so veterans could attend the school ceremony and then come to the senior center.
The details and collection dates were recorded in the meeting minutes; assignment of event tasks or formal approvals were not recorded at this meeting.
