A committee member asked whether staff were aware of a local rescue petition to remove a shelter veterinarian identified in online posts. "Are you familiar with a local rescue that is running a petition to remove doctor Chacon, the vet at bridal services?" the committee member asked.
Interim director Michael Wachsman answered that the department was aware of the allegations and was investigating. "We're currently aware of the allegations, and we're investigating. It did just pop up this weekend," he said. Committee members did not take formal action but asked staff to continue the inquiry and report back when there are confirmed findings.
