Town planning staff told the council they are preparing comprehensive updates to the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) focused on clarity and removing conflicting regulations rather than wholesale policy changes.
"The majority of what we're doing is fixing the formatting, grammar, missing words," Paul Amby said, adding staff will also propose consolidating the C3 and C1 commercial districts and clarifying architectural standards so interpretations are consistent. He said staff hopes to get a draft ready for plan commission in October, pursue a public hearing in November and, if approved, bring the ordinance before council in December for potential implementation in the new year.
Amby said staff will also consider bringing an architect next year to help rewrite confusing single‑family architectural standards. Council had no further questions after the presentation.
