Staff proposed reconfiguring town hall to place the police detectives and investigations unit on the west side of the building and parks and youth‑sports staff on the east side, restoring a front‑facing public desk for park registrations and creating space for program growth. Ryan said the plan would require minor remodeling and he recommended $100,000 in the non‑general fund for initial work.
Shelby Pride, parks and recreation director, said the change will allow parks staff to be more accessible to the public and provide storage and programming space. Pride also updated the council on separate sewer and grease‑trap work at a concession stand, explaining a plumbing configuration issue required bore and reconnection work before the facility could be fully connected to the sewer system.
Council asked whether swapping sides (putting sports on the more public side) would reduce remodeling; staff said multiple configurations were considered and the proposed arrangement maximized long‑term office and program capacity while leaving training facilities and other options for police space expansion in the future.
