District administrators presented a proposed structure for instructional reporting this year and asked the board for consensus on which topics to prioritize and when to receive reports.
The administration listed seven or eight candidate topics that align with previously identified focus areas: student learning measures, school culture and climate, college and career pathways, and related KPIs. The presenter said the intention is to calendar reports and align them with state report card timing so lagging and leading indicators will be available for mid-to-late fall board discussion.
Several board members asked the administration to explicitly include two topics: how artificial intelligence is being addressed in instruction (policy drafts for faculty were mentioned) and a five‑year report on the freshman curriculum initiative that began five years ago. "AI cuts across all instructional activity," one member said, urging a report on classroom implementation, teacher professional development and faculty uptake. Administration agreed to include the state guidance on AI and bring a focused update.
A board member also asked for KPIs to be developed collaboratively; administration clarified that the KPIs are intended to be measurable targets derived from the May presentation and that staff will bring proposed KPIs forward for board feedback.
