The board opened with a Remembrance Day proclamation honoring those who died on Sept. 11, 2001, and invited local fire chiefs to accept on behalf of Pinellas County first responders. A fire‑service representative recalled his experience on 9/11 and thanked the commission for the recognition: "I was actually a fire chief on 09/11/2001," he said.
The commission also read a proclamation recognizing National Hispanic Heritage Month and invited leaders from the Intercultural Advocacy Institute Hispanic Outreach Center to accept; staff cited the center’s recent move to a larger facility and reported service numbers since Oct. 2025. The board proclaimed Find the Good Day in partnership with the Junior League of Clearwater‑Dunedin and recognized local physicians from Morton Plant Hospital for Vascular Disease Awareness Month; a Morton Plant physician said these gatherings "are the stories that we love that are shared with the community" and emphasized teamwork in patient care.
These proclamations were ceremonial and carried no fiscal impact; community representatives thanked the board for public recognition of cultural observances and health awareness.
