Woz Mark held a grand opening in Downtown New Rochelle, drawing city and county officials who framed the event as part of a broader downtown revitalization effort. Catherine White, executive director of the New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce, opened the ceremony and noted the store is a recipient of New Rochelle’s Veil Tenant Improvement Fund.
"Walsmark is actually also 1 of the recipients of New Rochelle's very innovative program, the Veil Tenant Improvement Fund," White said, thanking city staff and partners for supporting new businesses. Mayor Yadira Ramos Herbert said she was "so grateful that you chose New Rochelle" and urged the owners to tell the city what they need to stay open: "whatever we can do to make sure that you stay open, please let us know." The city’s director of economic development, Kevin Jimenez, echoed that the opening reflects the municipal investment in a healthier retail environment and emphasized continued partnership with local entrepreneurs.
The business owner, introduced earlier as Ed Reese Altareb, described the store as a "one stop shop" with full-room displays, thanking the city for working with them "like a family." The ceremony concluded with neighbors and officials taking photos and performing a ceremonial ribbon cut.
The event highlighted a mix of municipal programs and neighborhood entrepreneurship. No formal votes or policy actions were taken; the gathering was ceremonial and intended to showcase downtown business activity and the city’s tenant-improvement support.
