Carabel Liles, representing the Christian County Soil & Water Conservation District, described the district's programs and asked the commission to continue annual support at $10,000.
Liles said the district provides cost-share assistance to eligible landowners for practices such as stream-bank stabilization, grazing systems and well decommissioning and that those awards are capped (the district cannot pay more than 75 percent of project costs and typically has a $50,000 maximum payment for most projects). She told commissioners the district returned about "$234,000 back to landowners" through its programs last year. Cody Hall added details about outreach and the district's equipment rental program, including no-till drills that rent for roughly $12–$15 an acre and a minimum daily charge.
Commissioner (S7) moved to approve a $10,000 allocation to the district (the same amount provided in prior years); the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
Liles provided the district's contact location for equipment rental (1786 South 16th Avenue, behind the MFA building) and said the district conducts grazing schools and youth programs as part of its outreach.
The commission recorded the allocation as an approved allocation in the meeting minutes.
