Town staff described staffing changes proposed for 2027: three new full-time positions — a fleet mechanic, a full-time communications relations role to replace interns, and a water line locator — while eliminating one previously budgeted position and six part-time seasonal roles. "This year, we are asking to add 3 positions. 1 would be a fleet mechanic... We're asking we're 1 to eliminate Swagit... and the water department is asking to add a line locator," the presenter said.
Council members questioned how those changes net out against eliminated positions and seasonal hires; staff responded that some roles were removed from the budget and that counting seasonal positions as FTEs changes the net calculation. The meeting record shows follow-up around where the communications role sits in the departmental budget and confirmation that one previously held position (Sean's) was eliminated.
