Trustees voted to create a community outreach committee charged with gathering public input about the aging domes, repair options and the possibility of pursuing a bond for new construction. The superintendent said the goal is to include representatives from across the district — Suite, Ola, Litha and other precincts — and to convene high-school students, parents, teachers and community members to ensure broad representation.
The board discussed outreach methods, including QR-coded table toppers at meetings, ParentSquare messages and controlled online forms requiring email addresses to prevent duplicate responses. "I think if you did it at least 1 representative from each precinct, it gives you a little bit of an idea," the superintendent said. Trustees noted a prior bond attempt had included a large campus design that some voters found off‑putting; the committee’s work will focus on realistic options and clear tax-impact explanations. Staff reminded trustees the earliest possible bond election windows are May 2027, November 2027 or May 2028, underscoring the need to start outreach now.
A motion to form the committee passed; roll-call discussion recorded multiple 'aye' votes and at least one stated opposed response during the public roll-call exchange. Trustees asked staff to bring candidate names back within two weeks and to circulate a survey and table-top QR code for community input.
