The facilities supervisor, Jessica Dina, told the committee that a September inspection with a representative from Martha Pools found the pool’s vertical liner joints “are beginning to fail due to the age of the liner.”
Dina said the liner is about 15 years old and the firm advised welding a strip over all vertical joints as an immediate repair. “We are currently obtaining 3 quotes to complete the repairs as soon as possible. We do have 2 quotes in hand. I anticipate the 3rd 1, by the end... By the close of business tomorrow,” Dina said. Staff said timeline estimates from contractors (some cited three weeks, others three days) will factor into the district’s selection.
Director of business administration Tony Rapp confirmed the patch work is budgeted and cited a lower quote of roughly $21,000 for the repair. “That’s our lower quote at this point where we have 2 in hand,” Rapp said. Staff clarified that the $21,000 estimate covers the patch and associated labor but does not include the water costs to refill the pool.
District leaders said the pool is empty now and crews are prepared to weld seams and then clean and begin refilling. They also said a full liner replacement is planned for next summer and drawings and specifications are already being prepared so that the work can be scheduled as soon as the vendor season allows.
The committee asked about program interruptions; staff said they have identified alternate practice locations for club and high‑school teams and are coordinating with custodial and athletics staff to minimize disruptions. The administration will return with a final vendor recommendation and schedule after receipt of the third bid.
