Jessica Dina, the supervisor of facilities, summarized the district’s summer 2026 playground work and showed photos from Goodno, Rolling Hills, Churchville and Welch elementaries.
Dina said staff implemented a no‑cost layout change suggested by recess aides to improve usefulness and praised the schools’ principals and aides for facilitating the openings. Regarding construction, Dina said a specific change order is necessary: rerouting approximately 10 linear feet of an 8‑inch storm line at Rolling Hills to avoid major tree roots and adding drainage base and mulch at Goodno. “So it’ll be an an add to the contract of $8,230,” Dina said. She added the overall project remains within the budget set several years ago and that districts have set aside roughly $5,000 per school each year for routine playground maintenance.
Board members asked clarifying questions about the exact scope and whether equipment had been removed to offset costs; staff said the district had already purchased equipment and did not remove other items to cover the change order. A board member also asked about the specific sites shown in photos and staff confirmed the bottom image was Churchville.
The committee did not take a formal vote at the meeting; staff said the work is complete and within the planned budget and will continue routine maintenance funding for playground upkeep.
